The DX-980E Auto-Darkening Welding Filter is designed to provide welders with reliable eye protection, excellent visibility, and convenient digital control for a wide range of welding and grinding applications. Featuring a large 98 × 80 mm viewing area and four independent arc sensors, the DX-980E provides a clear view of the work area while quickly detecting the welding arc and automatically switching to the selected dark shade.
With an extremely fast 1/25,000-second switching time, the filter reacts almost instantly when an arc is detected, helping protect the user’s eyes from sudden flashes while maintaining comfortable visibility throughout the welding process. The adjustable shade range of DIN 5–8 and DIN 9–13, combined with a light-state shade of DIN 4, makes the DX-980E suitable for a variety of welding applications and working conditions.
The integrated LCD screen and digital controls make adjustments quick and convenient. Sensitivity can be digitally adjusted from low to high, allowing the welder to customize how the filter responds to different arc intensities and surrounding light conditions. The dark-to-light delay is adjustable from 0.1 to 2.0 seconds, providing additional control over how quickly the lens returns to its light state after welding stops. This is particularly useful when working with high-amperage applications where the welded material may remain bright for a short period after the arc has ended.
For added versatility, the DX-980E includes a dedicated grinding function, allowing the filter to remain in the appropriate light state during grinding operations. This reduces the need to constantly remove or change equipment when alternating between welding preparation, welding, and finishing work.
An integrated ADF self-check function allows the user to verify the operation of the auto-darkening filter before beginning work. The unit also features a low-battery warning indicator, helping ensure the user is aware when battery power is running low. The replaceable CR2450 lithium battery, combined with solar-cell assistance, provides a practical dual-power system for dependable operation.
With an optical classification of 1/1/1/2, the DX-980E is engineered to deliver excellent optical clarity, consistent shading, and reliable viewing performance.
